Full History
Zul'Kunda was a troll settlement in northern Stranglethorn, part of the lands that had once belonged to the broad Gurubashi world. The jungle trolls' empire declined after the struggle over Hakkar and the breakup of central authority, leaving individual tribes to defend their own territories. Ancient structures survived as places of memory and contest long after the power that raised them had weakened.
The Bloodscalp trolls claimed strongholds amid the northern ruins, competing with other tribes and resisting intruders. Their presence belonged to the long fragmentation of the Gurubashi empire, when old kinship no longer meant political unity. The jungle was filled with places whose ruins testified to former authority but whose occupants served different chiefs and rival causes.
Zul'Kunda's history is therefore not the founding of a new civilization in the shadow of human exploration. It is the persistence of troll settlement after imperial decline, when descendants of a once-dominant people struggled over the remnants of their own inheritance. The old stones outlasted the unity of the empire and became part of a more fractured age.
