Full History

Furbolgs were among the forest peoples encountered in Kalimdor during the wars and upheavals of the original Warcraft era. Their settlements and ancestral ties belonged to woodlands also guarded by the night elves. Conflict and corruption put many communities under pressure. Their history is not solely that of enemies in a wilderness; it belongs to a wider struggle over the survival of the forests.

The Burning Legion's return disrupted the ancient balance of Ashenvale and neighboring regions. Demonic influence and the movement of armies threatened those whose lives depended upon the woods, including furbolg tribes with distinct settlements. Some appearances in the original games place furbolgs as opponents; others acknowledge their social organization and the misfortunes of corruption. Those differences require care rather than a claim that every tribe acted alike.

The early source trail supports their presence, conflict, and vulnerability, but not a complete origin story or a universal history of their leaders. The surviving accounts should be read as glimpses of peoples affected by much larger wars. Their condition in the original World of Warcraft world is a reminder that the defeat of Archimonde did not restore every forest community to peace or remove the harms that had spread during the invasion.
