Full History
The blue dragons entered the War of the Ancients under Malygos, the Spell-Weaver, whose charge was to preserve magic. Their strength seemed vital against the Burning Legion's invasion. Yet the catastrophe that broke the flight did not come only from demons. It came from the betrayal of a fellow Aspect.
Neltharion had persuaded the dragons to invest their power in the Dragon Soul, promising a weapon to defend the world. When he turned it upon the dragonflights, the blues were among the most terrible victims. Dragons who had trusted the Earth-Warder fell to power drawn partly from their own leaders, and Malygos saw much of the flight he guided destroyed.
The wound remained long after the ancient conflict ended. Malygos's grief drove him into isolation, while the surviving blue dragons continued under the shadow of a shattered family. The price of Neltharion's betrayal was therefore not measured only in a battle's losses. It diminished one of Azeroth's ancient guardians and left the stewardship of magic scarred by mistrust.
